Since you can't turn a pillowtop over, do they last half as long as a regular mattress I can flip?

The fact that it's a pillowtop does not lower a mattress' life expectancy.

It's not just pillowtops that are "no-flip", all mattresses by the major manufacturers are made that way now.

There's no reason to think that a pillowtop will last less longer than other mattresses, so go ahead and enjoy a pillowtop if that's the comfort that you prefer.
